Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese healing technique that used thin needles to treat an area or symptom. Acupuncture can be used in conjunction with a low voltage electric current or using a pin point massage technique.

Aromatherapy Treatments

These are treatments that utilize various essential oils. The type of essential oil utilized is dependent on what benefits are required from the treatment. Aromatherapy is used in treatments such as wraps, facials, massages and hydro therapies etc.

Colonic Irrigation

Intense water cleansing of the entire colon in order to remove impurities and to aid detoxification.

Dead Sea Mud Treatment

Mineral-rich mud from the dead sea is used on the body in order to aid circulation, prevent ageing and cleanse the skin.

Disabled Facilities

Facilities aiding people with physical disabilities.

Dry Treatment Room

A room where treatments not involving water based treatments are performed.

Duo Massage

A treatment where two therapists perform the treatment together.

Facial

A treatment that aids in the cleansing, moisturizing, toning, exfoliating and improving the skins condition. Varies according to a persons requirements.

Flogiston Chair

A chair designed based on a NASA prototype simulating a body position of zero gravity. The chair in mounted in a frosted fiberglass dome onto which images are projected, creating an IMAX theatre type simulation. A built-in vibration further enhances the relaxation qualities of the experience.

Foot Bath

A small bath like container in which one relaxes ones feet in a liquid substance. The foot bath can be filled with various substances and can be heated or cold, dependant on the treatment. EG. Relaxation, Detox, Disinfection etc … Foot baths also ensure that the body temperature does not decrease at a too rapid rate.

Gymnasium

Facilities intended for indoor sports or exercise.

Hair Studio

A place where one goes to get their hair cut, styled, highlighted or coloured.

Health Bar

Area in which health drinks or / and snacks are served. EG. Water, Juices, Fresh Fruit, Muffins etc...

Hot Marble Slabs

Hot marble slabs are either provided for you to lie or sit on during or after a treatment for relaxation purposes.

Hot Stone Therapy

A treatment where smooth stones are used either hot or cold during a massage treatment. The stones are rubbed onto the skin to enhance a treatments therapeutic and relaxation benefits.

Hydrotherapy

A water based treatment used to promote relaxation and circulation in the body. There are a number of different procedures where hydrotherapy is utilized, such as showers, baths and pools.

Hydro Shower

A heated flow of various water strengths aimed at different areas of your body at different times. Aids in relaxation, circulation and in stimulating the immune system.

Hydro Therapy Bath

A bath with multiple water and air jets to promote both relaxation and circulation.

Hydro Therapy Pool

An indoor or outdoor swimming pool with multiple water and air jets to promote both relaxation and circulation.

Iridology

The study and practice of patterns and structures in the iris of the eye to aid disease diagnosis. Iridology is also utilized as a preventative measure whereby problems can sometimes be found prior to them becoming a problem.

Jacuzzi

A large bath like or pool like structure equipped electrically to direct jets of water and air bubbles at the person or persons. May be indoor or outdoor.

Jet Bath

A bath equipped to direct jets of water at different strengths at the person in the bath. Aids relaxation and circulation.

Kneipp

A system of healing involving the application of water through various methods, temperatures and pressures.

Lap Pool

An indoor or outdoor swimming pool utilized primarily for doing exercise and swimming laps.

Lymph Drainage

A massage treatment where massage strokes are used to stimulate circulation and to aid in the removal of excess fluid and toxins.

Meditation Area

An indoor or outdoor area where one is able to concentrate their attention on an object or thought. It is a peaceful, quiet and relaxing area.

Nail Bar

Beauty services are provided that offer nail care services such as manicures, pedicures and nail enhancements.

Outdoor Treatment Room

An area or open room where treatments are performed outdoors.

Paraffin Treatment

A treatment where heated paraffin wax is utilized on the body or areas of the body leaving the skin soft and smooth. This treatment aids in removing clogged pores, dead skin as well as soothing the skin and muscles.

Plunge Pool

A small deep pool that can either be hot or cold. Utilizing both hot and cold pools at the same time can aid in circulation. Cold plunge pools are also utilized separately for cooling off the body.

Rainforest Shower

A cascade of warm water falls onto your body either while you are standing or lying down. The rain comes down at different strengths throughout the shower experience. The rain can be soft, pulsating or hard, or a combination of rain types, depending on the treatment type.

Rain Mist Room

Can be either a cold or warm soft light mist or alternating mist and rainfall patterns. Extremely relaxing to the entire body.

Rasul Chamber

A chamber consisting of a number of phases. Firstly you coat yourself with various coloured muds. Steam then flows into the chamber allowing the mud to become moist and enabling you to rub the mud into your skin. This process aids in exfoliating and cleansing the skin. After the steam process, showers are turned on to wash away the mud. It is a deeply relaxing experience and 2 – 4 people can fit inside the chamber dependant on where you are having the treatment done.

Reflexology

An ancient Chinese technique using the pressure points in the hands or feet, usually the feet, to restore energy in the body and aid the body fight areas of concern in the body.

Reiki

A Japanese healing technique where practitioners utilize their hands to create heat and energy in the body which aids in deep relaxation and calmness.

Relaxation Area

An indoor or outdoor area which promotes relaxation through sound, atmosphere or temperature.

Sauna

A small room or house designed as a place to experience dry heat sessions. Adding water to the sauna device can intensify the heat. Induces relaxation and promotes sweating.

Solarium

Usually a large, glassed relaxation area that is exposed to the sun. Used as a relaxation area after or before treatments.

Steam Room

A room where you will encounter wet, humid heat. Oils and herbal essence are sometimes added to the steam for added benefits. The steam room is particularly good for clearing out the respiratory tract and aiding better breathing.

Steam Sauna

A combination sauna and steam room, viewed as a multi-benefit treatment.

Sunbed Room

A horizontal device that you lie in that emits ultraviolet radiation usually for the purpose of a cosmetic tan.

Swedish Massage

A European massage which utilizes essential oils and works with the bodies muscles to increase circulation, relaxation, flexibility and remove tension and body aches.

Swimming Pool

Artificially enclosed body of water intended for swimming or water based recreation.

Swiss Shower

Powerful shower jets that alternate hot and cold water are directed onto the body at various levels to produce the effect of an invigorating massage. Relives tension and increases body circulation.

Tanning Booth

A vertical device that emits ultraviolet radiation usually for the purpose of a cosmetic tan.

Turkish Steam Room

Involves relaxing in a room that is heated by a continuous flow of hot, dry air promoting perspiration. In some cases, one would then move to a new even hotter room before splashing themselves with cold water.

Twin Treatment Room

A room where two people can have their treatments done together in the same room and at the same time.

Vichy Shower

Is a multi-jet shower in which large quantities of warm water are delivered to a spa goer. Usually alternating bursts of hot and cold water are delivered.

Waterbed Room

A room that contains water-containing mattresses which are usually heated for relaxation promotion.

Wet Treatment Room

A room where water based treatments are performed.

Whirl Pool

A pool where a circular movement of water is created which promotes relaxation.
